Linen, is one of those fabrics that make the warming weather seem that much cooler. And not just in a fashion sense, but in a practical sense linen actually keeps you cooler. I have recently made a series of pieces for my Etsy shop that are made primarily of linen. While I love the look of the textile I was always worried about it wrinkling too much to work into a small collection. I was however, pleasantly surprised by the look and wearability of the fabric in the garments I ended up using it in.
Here are a few tips for caring for linen and keeping it wrinkle free:
1 - Keep the garments hanging in between wears. As soon as you receive or purchase something with linen in it, hang it up.
2 - If your linen garment gets wrinkly you can either iron it on a high setting with steam or steam it out, although this takes a bit longer. If you don't have a steamer you can always hang garments in your bathroom when you take a hot shower. Make sure that the garments aren't too close to the water, or don't get too wet.
3 - Dry clean your linen pieces. Not only will this keep the linen from becoming unbearably wrinkly as it would from hand washing (after which you'll spend far too much time with an iron) but it will leave your garment perfectly pressed and will stay wrinkle free longer.
And here are a few of my linen pieces that are all available on my Etsy shop!
And last but certainly not least the Fiamma Red Silk Maxi Dress has a sexy low back in linen.
