Resort 2013 = Givenchy

Obsessed with this leather work. The hip-py liciousness of these silhouettes re-calls the big pocketed pants of Jean Paul Gaultier a few years back. The collection, while a bit goth and a teeny bit Game of Thrones (Dothraki style) is on-par with what all the high end bloggers will snap up and snap photos of. This is a collection is leaving me star-struck with it's well endowed sleeves and sell-ability.

Resort 2013 = Derek Lam

Derek Lam's Resort 2013 collection probably put a lot of retailers shaky hearts at rest for a few months. Knowing that they'll have a few deliveries of great items coming just in time for x-mas is always a good crowd pleaser, well at least when the crowd is made up of Bloomingdales, Saks... etc.. The easy breezy separates styled in such a no fuss way scream cool city mom that just started making more mulla than dad. With patterns sparse and sprinkled throughout the collection in an easy to layer way you can easily imagine on your clients. There was a bit of play with the x-model girl who made it on her "own" in NYC and wears a leather jumpsuit to go grocery shopping and the nice girl who's parents live on the Upper East Side who thinks edgy is wearing a sharp lined blazer. But after all of that, the outerwear in the collection was fantastic and the lines were great. And, as we all know in design, it really is ALL about the lines.

Week + Warrior = Black is the New Black

I never imagined myself to be converted to the NYC, Milanese tradition of wearing "black on black".
But I won't lie, I am fully converted.
Here are a few pieces from my Etsy shop that are great for this look.

"It's too easy to say that orange is happy and black is sad. To me, black is perfect. You can fill it with the emotion you want to express. My work has always been about authentic feeling, and I think we live in a time where we need that."-
Ann Demeulemeester

This is the Jon Snow Black Cowl Neck Blouse, it's only $30.00 and is perfect for layering because of it's subtle texture.

Trend + Alert = Party On with Detachable Collars

Everywhere from Tibi to Etsy detachable, or attachable collars are in.

The appeal lies mostly in the way it looks with the miss matched trend that became viral because of the Manrepeller and other bloggers. Because all you have to do is fasten any one of these totally adorable collars onto any outfit and BOOM you got it.

SO here are a few ideas to make this trend happen and where to find the collars for them at super inexpensive prices!

This is the Rhinestone Embelished Pointed Collar Necklace with Silky Bow Back Closure from violajanedesigns on Etsy. Featured below on blogger Audrey Leighton, of Frassy

My next two favorite collars from violajanedesigns are both silver vegan leather. I think they are uber chic in a down to earth kind of way.

The last look that I'm enjoying with these collars is the rhinestone, jewel encrusted ones. This way all you have to do to dress up for a party is throw a collar on over or with any top or even a sweater! The collar below is from violajanedesigns but seems to be sold out already!

FYI you don't have to miss match things to get the trend right. You can match it all up like you were told as a kid and it looks just as shnazzy. For instance, here is the Sigfried Bodysuit with Removable Collar from Tibi.com
