Guc + ci = Handsomely Sparkling Ladies for Milan Fashion Week Spring 2012

My glittering fantasies that were awoken this season, first with the Marchesa collection and then tickled with the Giles collection, were fully realized with the second half of the Gucci Spring 2012 runway show. Frida Giannini made me get giddy with anticipation for all of the editorials to come using these sparkling ensembles. 

I am in LOVE with Abbey Lee Kershaw and this photo just about sums up how beautiful her face is. The makeup is vampy and over-done but heh what isn't in the fashion world? 

 As Gertrude Stein puts in her Tender Buttons, "certainly glittering is handsome and convincing".

Gile + s = Silver Sparkling Swans for Spring 2012

The whimsical ways of Giles Deacon never fail to enthrall me. The Spring 2012 collection that Giles presented appeared to be a bit of a hodge podge as his collections can be, however I found a fierce and extreme elegance throughout the collection. 

From Style.com I learned that Deacon's silver clad heroines, and swan printed warriors were "inspired" by many things. One of which, was Cecile Beaton's portrait of his sister Baba. It's almost as if Baba was walking down the runway herself!

What do you think of these pieces? Fiercely elegant or something altogether different?
