Sac + cha + rine = Prada Spring 2012 for Milan Fashion Week

Funny fickle thing the fashion world is at times and at others, it's as in-sync as a team of synchronized swimmers (funny swim caps and all).

For Spring 2012, designers went a few different ways, and whether they like it or not they went there together. One direction down the fashion yellow brick road for spring lead to defining saccharine through fashion design. I've been explaining throughout the week how I find the sudden use and application of this word quite intriguing. The Milan Fashion Week Prada Spring 2012 runway show and the following reviews were yet another saccharine way the world turns round.

Miuccia Prada explains to Vogue“I was terrified, I wanted to take on the taboo of sweetness, which is one of the greatest qualities in women. But if you are not aggressive, too? How can that work, for a woman?”.

Sweet and girly don't usually coincide with power dressing, however, I think Miuccia Prada has finally found a happy medium that lets girls be girls without it being detrimental to their intellect. Here you see that the models, although still the 6 foot androgynous type of the "industry", are dolled up in an unapologetic kind of way. They have hot rods printed on their baby pink frocks and flames air brushed onto pleated skirts but they don't seem the demure supportive girlfriend type. In other words, these girls aren't just the ones sitting with pom-poms on the sidelines or sitting in the passenger seat, they're the ones driving.
